It takes two winning GOTY is a surprise, but I’m happy it won. Out of all the games on stage I truly believe it left the biggest lasting impression on me. Definitely a dark horse pick, but it was a pretty weak field this year. And it’s the only entry that I felt had a unique vision that was executed confidently and competently.

I really, really want to say that I prefer new properties to sequels and remakes but when every "new" thing that the industry makes feels so formulaic and boring, it's really difficult to not just fantasize about them announcing a Dino Crisis remake or something. I mean Nightingale is a steampunk survival crafting game. I feel like it missed the mark by ten years. It's original but it feels ex...

Horizon Zero Dawn pulled it off perfectly. It's only boring when you're just pouring bullets into blank metal plating. But when the robots are well-designed enough to have a dozen distinct weak spots / components to shoot off and viscerally dismantle, it makes for great combat. Ironically, in that game it was the human enemies who were a complete bore to fight. After bringing down a few Thunde...

I used to be one of those "I hate pvp" players that would only play co-op, so I understand why people feel that way. Though I also disliked the fact that, eventually, co-op becomes repetitive. Played MMOs a lot, and was into progression raiding. After you earn all the loot, and achievements, there's really not much of a reason to continue, until the next new raid comes out. Played games like An...

Not hating it, but imagine being a hopeful fan of Rainbow Six and thinking the next main installment was a continuation of the first person coop PVE game you enjoyed all the years and then seeing Siege come out as a PVP esports title. Not the dude you responded too, but I'm also fairly certain it'll die off. The main game mode is simply not enjoyable. You have several teams of 3 competing for objectives. The entire gameplay loop requires lots of communication and coordination, and you're thrown in with two strangers. It's not like Apex where you just need to stick around and kill the enemy. Premade teams will dominate, and ...

Unfortunately I have to disagree. They were pretty clear in their last post that this was a fundamental change. >just with pvp now So not what people hoped for...like I'm not sure if you were here a year ago but the announcement of a "PvP mode" was a lot of people's worst nightmares. Now it has fundamentally changed the game. They are most definitely trend chasing, the genre is blowing up ...

I'm quite a fan of the extraction shooter genre and, whilst I don't think this necessarily brings anything new to the table, I think it manages to combine good aspects of other similar games. It takes the looting and crafting aspect from Tarkov and mixes it with the PVE of something like Hunt: Showdown or The Cycle to create effectively a more complicated version of the latter two games. why embark studios decided to go down the rabbit hole of extraction shooters is beyond me. every thing wrong with this decision can be summarized by the initial trailer we got for the game. i can go on with the fact that my first mission got cut short by getting absolutely shot to pieces by ai that is completely imbalanced as ?><!, but why bother. the game was being advertised as a decent coop ...

I hate pvp and stayed away from it in The Division but the alpha was pretty nice. Playing with others helps but solo is possible and requires a different style. Hey, no problem, I'll gladly explain my side. Extraction shooters thrive on tense and stressful situations. The ARCs, in this case, can be fairly easily dodged, ignored or evaded. The smallest enemies are WAY over powered. What I'm assuming is their basic attack that shocks you, completely drains your shield and Half of your health. I'll put my suggestion here if anyone is interested. It's probably quite different to most peoples' feedback. The greatest aspect to this game, in my opinion, is its ability to create emergent drama. Whether it’s teaming up with random players to take down a matriarch, or hunting extraction campers, you’ve done a great job of building a canvas for these kinds of interactions.  Continuing from...

TLDR: Matriarch killing on Dam is no longer feasible even as a trio. If you want to do her, just don't do it on Dam. If you do choose to do her on Dam despite this, either bring all hullcrackers with a shitload of ammo and snipe her from miles away across the map or cross your fingers and hope you get a friendly lobby so you can overcome her with numbers. Her spawn has been moved to the southm...

I'm sorry, because every time I see a post like this I try to explain why it won't happen and then I get downvoted or people saying I'm toxic or whatever but honestly I really hope nobody from Embark reads this shit and actually takes it seriously lol. Okay so you want this to happen with the Matirach, what if I really wanted to collect Mushrooms and I was getting pissed off because when I joi...

I had a guy try kill me with some kind of AR from range. I had a ferro but despite several times where I would peak and dome him, the guy just wouldn't stop trying to kill me. He had more meds than me as I was using a free kit at the time (it's such a damn well serving ferro that im still using it about 40 ish raids later but upgraded) But yeah, they poor guy, whilst clearly losing the fight...

Title: Arc Raiders: A Post-Apocalyptic Identity Crisis – Not What I Expected Having spent some time with Arc Raiders, I regret to say it largely missed the mark for me. While it boasts a polished facade, the experience underneath feels shallow and ultimately unfulfilling. From a purely mechanical standpoint, the gameplay feels competent and modern. Character controls are standard for a th...

It's an Extraction Adventure game. They used machine learning to train their AI. It's heavily crafting-based. In game VOIP. Solo/Squad based mach-making. Beautiful maps. Amazing map layouts. Best sound design I've EVER heard in a game. Runs fantastic. Great control responsiveness and movement. Intense experience every second of playing. Basically every weapon feels viable. Utilities are actuall...

Why is everyone losing their mind over this game, it's so boring, you very rarely meet other players, there are barely any AI enemies, little to no loot anywhere, what's the point?

"flavor of the week vibes" -every level looks the same. its either jungle or warehouse -items are just a basic thumbnail of like wires or a cube so looting isn't satisfying -time to kill is too high. shooting robots with bullets is lame. shouldnt you have specialized weapons against them by now? -price is too high, still feels like early access -value is low looks like 5 hours of gameplay ...

I played the tutorial during the weekend playtest but stopped there. After looting one of the first structures I knew opening a door would trigger some sort of lesson (probably a cutscene), so I left it for last, and I was proven right. But what happened was a scripted ambush, where after I gave a sigh of discappointment that I was proven right I had to wait through five seconds of getting shot...
